Pay: $16-17/hr
The Park and Recreation Construction Laborer Contractor provides general labor in support of the development, renovation, and installation of recreational facilities and amenities. The contractor assists skilled tradespeople, supervisors, and project managers with construction activities for parks, recreation centers, and playgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general labor tasks associated with the construction and installation of park and recreational facilities.
- Assist with site preparation, grading, excavation, trenching, demolition, and construction activities.
- Load, unload, transport, and stage construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist carpenters, electricians, plumbers, concrete workers, equipment operators, and other skilled trades as directed.
- Prepare work areas and assist with foundations, concrete work, framing, fencing, structures, and recreational amenities.
- Assist with installation of playground equipment, athletic structures, benches, shelters, bleachers, fencing, courts, and other recreational facilities.
- Assist with construction of walking paths, trails, sidewalks, parking areas, sports fields, and related site improvements.
- Mix, pour, spread, level, and finish construction materials as directed and within the contractor's qualifications.
- Operate hand tools and approved power tools safely and properly.
- Assist with demolition and removal of existing structures and materials.
- Maintain an organized and safe construction site by removing debris and properly storing tools and materials.
- Follow all applicable Federal Playground Safety Standards and ADA regulations
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to perform physically demanding construction work.
- Ability to safely use basic hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and construction plans.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew.
- Reliable transportation and attendance.
- Valid driver's license may be required depending on the project.
The contractor must be able to:
- Lift, carry, push, and pull construction materials and equipment.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, stoop, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Work safely around construction equipment, vehicles, tools, and materials.
- Perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other changing weather conditions.
