Summary
Drives a transit mixer truck equipped with auxiliary concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix and other related construction products to job sites by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Abide by Company Safety Program and policies while performing duties safely.
- Perform a daily pre- and post-trip safety check on equipment and the truck to ensure a safe operation. Document any required maintenance.
- Back the truck under loading hopper and start mixer to receive concrete. Follow guidelines and instructions provided by dispatch personnel.
- Drives the truck to designated job site for unloading. Must distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions at the job sites, in traffic, and throughout plant areas.
- Assemble the concrete chute and attach it to the back of the truck. Operate the appropriate levers to discharge concrete according to specifications into a wheelbarrow or other conveying container, or directly into the designated pour area.
- When appropriate, wash out truck at the job site and replace chute on truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class B minimum, and meet the insurability requirements of the Company’s insurance program.
- Previous commercial truck driving experience preferred. Must meet Company driving and insurability requirements. Must meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical requirements which are to be kept current according to DOT guidelines.
- Working knowledge of construction materials, job site procedures and site safety practices preferred.
Other Qualifications:
- Must successfully complete a DataFit physical capability evaluation.
- Successful completion of pre-employment reference and background checks, and post-offer drug/alcohol testing (including back screens, if required) is required as a condition of employment. This also applies to transfers, fit-for-duty evaluations, and return to work programs.
- Must not have any infractions for careless driving, driving under the influence (DUI), open container violations, or driving while license is suspended within the last five years.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule during busy season, including late or irregular hours.
- Must understand and maintain the internal and external customer service responsibilities associated with the position.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
- Frequently lifting 60 pounds to shoulder height.
- Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Work environment is usually loud; hearing protection may be required.
- Specific vision abilities required for safe vehicle operation.
